Our Main Program

Washington, DC is a “sanctuary city" for many communities, and there are many resources for the Trans community, but oftentimes, Trans-Latinx people are left at the margins.

The Peer Navigation Program:

Trans-Latinx DMV’s Peer Navigation Program is our flagship initiative, designed to provide direct support, guidance, and advocacy for transgender Latinx individuals in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. As our core program, Peer Navigation serves as the foundation of our work, ensuring that community members have access to essential resources, services, and a strong support network.

Through personalized one-on-one support, our peer navigators—who are trans Latinx individuals themselves—help community members navigate challenges related to immigration, healthcare, legal assistance, employment, and housing. They provide culturally competent and trauma-informed guidance, ensuring that individuals receive the care and support they need in a safe and affirming environment.

Additionally, the Peer Navigation Program connects members with other Trans-Latinx DMV initiatives, including Vivir Trans para TransLatinas, support groups, leadership development workshops, and community celebrations. Our navigators empower individuals to access opportunities, build self-sufficiency, and strengthen their sense of belonging within the broader Latinx and LGBTQ+ communities.

As the heart of Trans-Latinx DMV, the Peer Navigation Program embodies our mission to uplift and empower trans Latinx individuals, helping them thrive in all aspects of their lives.
